Here you will find information about the basic homework you can expect throughout the year for second grade.

Homework Folder:

Homework folder will be sent home every day for second graders. Please ask to see the homework agenda page everyday and be sure to check your child’s folder for homework, reminders, and school papers every night. Make sure your child places all assignments back in the folder and take the folder to school the next day.

Homework Log:

Our 2nd graders write their own homework log every day. In order to develop children’s responsibility, please help your child go over each item and sign the name. I will be checking the homework log weekly. Thank you for your time and participation.

Homework Support:

Each Friday we will send home color-paper challenge sheets for optional Chinese and math supplemental practice. Since the second graders will take the math STAR Test in English around May, most of the second graders’ math homework is in English. Please support your child’s learning of math vocabulary in English at home. Math homework provides knowledge of what we are learning in math class.

Pencil Box:

Please make sure your child coming to school with sharpened pencils every day.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Is your seven-year-old on track? Below are some general development milestones to help you understand your child’s progress over the school year. Keep in mind that every child is different and may not fit perfectly into this framework.

Where They Are At seven, kids begin to calm down a bit. They:
Begin to reason and concentrate.
Worry, are self-critical, and may express a lack of confidence.
Demand more of their teacher’s time. Dislike being singled out, even for praise.

Where They’re Going
School isn’t just academics. Your child’s teachers are also helping her grow socially.
At seven-years-old, your child is continuing to learn about herself and others.

You can help by encouraging her as she:
Develops a concept of herself.
Begins to understand others.
Gains respect for others.
Builds relationships with others.
Develops a sense of responsibility.
