Last Week Learning:

  • PinYin: We  have completed learning  the letters of PinYin. Reviewing and practicing will continue in the class. You can also help your child review PinYin at home by using Second Grade Vocabulary List.

 

  •  Characters: 條,隻,開車,坐飛機,校車

 

  • Mandarin Reading:We completed the 4th chapter of  My First Chinese Reader. The students are asked to RECITE the passage of the chapter.  Reciting is very important for helping children speaking and writing skills development. Please help your child complete assignment.

 

  • Mandarin Writing:  we did a writing practicing in class this week. The students were asked to write a paragraph about the colors. I would work with each student to revise and edit their writing in centers in next few weeks.

 

  • Math:Multiplication Table of 3.  Division by 2 the following week. Please continue encouraging your child memorized Multiplication Table.

 

  • Math Test Next Friday: Mental Math Test ( Multiplication Table of 3)

  • Thank you Devra ( Raina’ Mom in Lion Classs) for a Wonderful Hanukkah presentation in Horse Class. The students tasted Potato Latke and did a Hanukkah project.

  • Kwanzaa

We have talked about Kwanzaa in the class. Each student designed a pattern and put together to make a Kwanzaa Blanket.

  • American Map Cookies from Christine (Niko’ Mom)

Thank you Christine for making a American Map Cookies for the Horse Class. The students were excited to share with the class what the piece of America they got from the cookies. The students enjoyed it very much! They ate it all! Yummy!

  • Mandarin Reading: We started the 4th chapter of  My First Chinese Reader. The students have got a yellow paper with the passage we have learned. They are asked to read it out three times. Please sign your name after your child complete reading. Practicing reading out the passage is critical for speaking skills development. Please help your child complete assignment.
  • Mandarin Writing: We have read a new book of Chinese Reader series. The book is I like Sports. The students are involved in writing a small paragraph to describe their favorite sport.
  • Math:Multiplication Table of 2. Next week: Multiplication Table of 3.
  • Math Test Next Friday: students will have a math test on Multiplication & Division. Students are asked to memorize Multiplication Table of 2,3,4,5.
  • Chinese Comprehension Test Next Thursday: Students will have a comprehension test on next Thursday. It includes reading, writing and listening. Please help your child review the passages on the yellow paper.

We were learning Map Skills  for social study lessons. The students were asked to be familiar with American Map and to label the area on the map.

* Students take turn to bring a American Map Model Project home to do the project at home. Please help your child complete the assignment and make sure that your child bring back the project packet on time so that the next student in line can do the project. Also, students are asked to present their work in front of the class.

  • Characters: 首先,開始,接著,然後,最後
  • Mandarin Reading: We completed the the third chapter of  My First Chinese Reader. 她的眼睛很大。 The students are asked to recite the passages of the chapter. Please sign the yellow paper after your child reciting.
  • Mandarin Writing: reviewing transition word they have learned in Chinese. Students are asked to write a small paragraph by using at least three transition words.
  • Math:Division Reviewing & world problem involving multiplication & division. Next week: Multiplication Table of 2. 

* Multiplication Table: multiplication table is very important for future learning in both multiplication and division. Please make sure your child practice memorizing the multiplication table.  Each student has got a multiplication table that they can practice at home.

* Math Test Next Friday: students will have a mental math test on Multiplication.

*Chinese Test Next Friday: a Chinese test with reading and writing comprehension. It is not a dictation test. Helping your child review the characters is a good way to prepare the test.
